With Class Demand, you can plan for the number of classes the school will be opening for the next term. Edusuite provides a forecasting feature that will suggest which and how many classes are needed for the next term. You can also re-advise students to different classes, if you decide not to open a certain class.
Click on the “Class demand” tab found under the Planning category. This will bring you the Class demands page.
The number of students expected to enroll (found below the 'Class Demand' title) is the sum of students that answered 'Yes' to their Intent to Enroll banner and students with the same Starting Term as the incoming term.
1) Click on the “New Class Demand” button on the upper right corner of the page. This will show a “New class demand” form.
2) Enter a description for your new class demand. (Tip: The more descriptive, the better!)
3) If you want to have the system forecast the sections you need to open for the next term, check the “Forecast sections to open” option.
If you choose to not forecast sections, sections in your class demand will depend entirely on the classes needed by your active block sections. Class demands automatically update when block sections are added , removed, or modified.
Algorithm Types:
Prioritize Regular Offering - Ideal for schools that are used to the the block sections workflow. Subjects to be prioritized in the forecast will be based on the term to be opened for enrollment. (If the incoming term is 1st term, 1st term courses will be prioritized)
Prioritize Earlier Course - Ideal for schools that have a lot of irregular students. This algorithm will prioritize subjects from the left of a student's enrollment term.
Minimum Students per Section - Indicate the minimum number of students needed for the system to automatically open a section.
Maximum Advised Units - Select the maximum number of units to be advised to all students
4. Afterwards, click the “Add Class Demand” button to create your new class demand. You will now be returned to the Class demands page where you will see your newly created class demand. If you chose to forecast sections to open, you will see that the class demand is in a “Forecasting” status. If so, you will need to wait until the forecasting is done before you can do anything with that class demand.
This feature will allow you to update the block sections included in the forecast.
1. Choose the class demand you want to update and hover your mouse on the upper right portion of the selected Class Demand's 'box'. Upon doing so, you will see additional options. Click on Refresh block sections. A confirmation screen will be displayed.
Make sure that block section statuses have been updated accordingly for sections to be included or excluded from the forecast.
2. Choose from the available Block Section refresh options and then click Refresh Class Demand button. The duration of your class demand's refresh will depend on your selected block section refresh setting.
Refresh All Block Sections - This option will take the longest time to load of the three.
Refresh Changed Block Sections Only
Refresh All Block Sections but Ignore Passed Grades - This is the fastest option among the three block section refresh settings.
Make sure that block section statuses have been updated accordingly for sections to be included or excluded from the forecast.
