The Block Sections module allows you to group new students within the same program and assign them to preferred rooms for their classes.
You can access the Block Sections module under Planning > Planning Setup.
If you cannot view a link from the list, check the privilege assigned to your user account or role.
Contact your school’s system administrator to request view or edit access if you cannot access the rights management screen.
Click +New Block Section in the upper-right corner
Fill out the required details:
Section Name – Unique name for the block section
Slots – Maximum number of students allowed
Program – The program the block section belongs to
Starting Term – The first term for students in the block section
Program Revision – The specific program revision to be used
Preferred Rooms (Optional) – Suggested rooms for scheduling
Preferred Timeslots (Optional) – Suggested class schedules
Click Add Block Section to save
Toggle the Active/Inactive switch as needed. Active block sections will be included in the forecast/class demand. Ensure this is updated before creating the Class Demand.
Click the Pencil icon next to the block section. The Edit Block Section form will appear
Modify necessary details (Note: You cannot edit the program, starting term, or program revision)
Click Update to save changes. You will be redirected back to the Block Sections page, where updates will be reflected
Select the block section you want to delete. Click the Trash Bin icon
A confirmation message will appear. Click Delete to finalize
The block section will be removed from the list
Enter a keyword or exact section name in the search bar (upper-right corner). Press Enter to display matching results.
Select a block section. Click the Courses button
The list of courses for the current term will be displayed
Select a block section. Click the Students button
The list of students assigned to the block section will be displayed
While viewing the Students in a block section, click Add Student (upper-right corner)
In the Add Student form:
Select a student from the drop-down menu
You can also search by student name or student number
Click Add Student to confirm. The student will be added to the block section
If enrollment is already open, the student will be automatically enlisted, and an enlistment notification will be sent
While viewing the Students list, click the Remove button next to the student
Confirm the action. The student will be removed from the block section
Enter a keyword (student name or number) in the search bar (upper-right corner). Press Enter to display matching results.
Question: Why can't I add a student to a block section?
Answer: Ensure that the student's Program and Starting Term match the block section's settings.
