Departments

The Department section allows you to document the various departments and their respective heads within the school. Departments serve as groupings for subjects (such as General Education and Religious Education)

Access and Navigation

The Departments module can be found under Planning > Planning Setup.

If you cannot view the link from the list, check the privilege assigned to your user account or role.

Create a New Department

To create a new department:

  • Click + New Department in the upper right corner

  • Fill out the required details

    • The Department Code and Department Head must be unique

    • The Department Head dropdown displays only users with the Faculty role

  • Click Add Department to save the new department

Edit a Department

Edits to Schedule Types are instantly reflected in the Scheduler View, regardless of the term selected in the main Planning menu.

To edit a department:

  • Select the department you want to modify and click the Pencil icon

  • In the "Update Department Details" form, update the necessary fields. The Department Code and Department Head must remain unique

  • Click Update Department to save your changes. You will be redirected to the Departments page, where your updates will be reflected immediately

Delete a Department

To delete a department:

  • Select the department you want to remove and click the Trash Bin icon

  • A confirmation message will appear asking you to confirm the deletion

  • Click Delete to proceed. The department will be permanently removed from the list

Search a Department

To search for a department, enter a keyword or the exact department name in the search bar located in the upper-right corner. Press Enter to view all matching results.

Question: What is the difference between a Department and a College?

Answer: A Department is a group of related subjects, while a College is a group of degree programs.
