Block Sections

Block sections allow you to group together new students of the same course. You can also assign them preferred rooms where they will be taking their classes.
Click on the “Planning Setup” tab under Planning. On the Planning Setup menu, click on the “Block sections” tab. This will show the Block sections page.
1. To create a new block section, click the “New Block Section” button on the upper right part of the page. This will give you a “New block section” form.
2. Fill up the necessary details. Do not use a section name that has already been used.

Preferred Timeslots - This will help ensure that the schedule of a particular block will only be assigned within a preferred time.
1. Once block sections have been created, set its status to 'Active or Inactive' from the first column that can be seen on the screen.
All active blocks will be included in the forecast/class demand. This must be updated prior to creating the Class Demand.
1. To edit a block section, choose a block section to edit and click on its edit/pencil icon. This will show an “Edit block section” form.
2. You may only edit the section name, number of slots, preferred rooms and timeslots. Do not use a section name that already exists.
1. To delete a block section, choose a block section to delete and click on its delete/trash icon.
2. An alert message will show asking if you are sure you want to delete the item. Click “Delete” to finalize the deletion. Your chosen item has now disappeared from the list.
1. To search for a block section, type in a keyword or the exact text on the search bar above.
2. Press enter on your keyboard to search. A list of searches that match your description should show below.
1. To view the courses of a block sections, choose a block section and click its “Course” link.
2. This will show you the list of courses the block section is taking in the current term.
1. To view the students of a block sections, choose a block section and click its “Students” link.
2. This will show you the list of students that is a part of the chosen block section.
1. To view the students of a block sections, choose a block section and click its “View Students” button. This will show you the list of students that is a part of the chosen block section.
2. To add a student to the block section, click on the “Add Student” button on the upper right corner of the page. This will show you the “Add student” form.
3. Select a student by clicking on the dropdown and/or typing a keyword related to the student (name or ID) on the dropdown input. You are not allowed to add a student that is already part of a different block section.
4. Once you have chosen a student, click “Add Student”. You will be returned to the list of students where you will now see your newly added student.
Adding students to a block when enrollment is already open will automatically enlist the student and send an enlistment notification to the student/s added.
1. To view the students of a block sections, choose a block section and click its “View Students” button. This will show you the list of students that is a part of the chosen block section.
2. To remove a student from a block section, choose the student to be removes and click on his/her “Remove” button.
3. An alert message will show asking if you are sure you want to remove the student. Click “Yes, Remove Student” to finalize the removal. Your chosen student has now disappeared from the list.

3. Press enter on your keyboard to search. A list of searches that match your description should show below.
3. Once you are done filling the form, click “Add Block Section”. This will return you to the Block sections page and you may now see your newly created block section in the list provided.
3. Once you are done editing the block section, click “Update Block Section”. This will return you to the Block sections page and you may now see your newly edited block section in the list provided.
